Democrats’ Reaction to Trump’s VP: Pure Meltdown

Earlier on Monday, former and potentially future President Donald Trump named Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate. The announcement came during the roll call vote to formally nominate Trump at the RNC in Milwaukee. Predictably, Democrats in Ohio and around the country wasted no time in unleashing a barrage of statements condemning the move.

As Fox News’ Chad Pergram shared, the Ohio Democratic Party, among others, was quick to respond. Their statement, dripping with disdain, painted Vance as an “out-of-touch millionaire” who launched his political career by exploiting Ohio’s opioid crisis. They claim he’s been busy “humiliating himself in the service of a convicted felon” rather than working for Ohioans.

Conveniently, they ignore Vance’s humble beginnings, which he chronicled in his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy.” This background has allowed him to connect with working-class Americans in a way that few politicians can. Moreover, the Democrats’ jab about Vance’s “service” to Trump misses the mark, overlooking his service in the Marine Corps during the Iraq War, which showcases his dedication to the country.

Of course, the Democrats couldn’t resist fixating on abortion, an issue they’re obsessed with. They accuse Vance of supporting a national abortion ban and holding “twisted beliefs” about women staying in violent marriages for the sake of their children. Vance, who is pro-life, has repeatedly stated that the issue of abortion should be decided by the states. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America even hailed his selection as a “strong pick.” And that bizarre claim about Vance advocating for women to stay in violent marriages? He debunked it over two years ago.

Democrats also tried to paint Vance as a political shapeshifter, perfect for a president who, according to them, failed to deliver on promises to bring jobs back to Ohio while spreading misinformation about a deadly disease. The irony here is thick, given that Trump just survived an assassination attempt. While Elizabeth Walters, chairwoman of the Ohio Democrats, had the decency to condemn the attack, the party’s statement glosses over the severity of the situation.

Despite the Democrats’ claims that Vance is “wrong for Ohio” and that voters have “buyers’ remorse,” Vance won the 2022 Senate primary and the general election against former Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH). In fact, Vance’s endorsed candidate for the upcoming Senate race, Bernie Moreno, clinched the nomination in March, proving Vance’s influence in Ohio politics.

The DNC also chimed in with a statement, full of the usual hyperbole about the “consequential” nature of this election and how a Trump-Vance ticket would “undermine our democracy.” They desperately tried to tie Trump and Vance to Project 2025, despite the fact that it’s an initiative from the Heritage Foundation, not affiliated with Trump’s campaign. Even fact-checkers have debunked this connection.

Trump himself addressed this misinformation in an interview with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, conducted just hours before he was shot. He reiterated that he had no involvement with Project 2025 and felt it “went way too far.”

It’s almost laughable how the Democrats continue to scream about threats to democracy while ignoring the real violence that just unfolded. The irony is lost on them as they keep pushing their narrative, seemingly unfazed by the attempted assassination that occurred just days ago.
