Kamala Steals Yet Another Idea from Trump Playbook

Vice President Kamala Harris is at it again, shamelessly swiping yet another idea from the Trump-Vance playbook, this time rolling out a $6,000 child tax credit that sounds an awful lot like something her opponents just proposed.

In a move that’s more than a little convenient, Harris unveiled her version of the child tax credit, promising “up to $6,000 in total tax relief for middle-income and low-income families during the first year of their child’s life.” The timing? Oh, just days after Senator JD Vance suggested doubling the child tax credit to $5,000 during a CBS interview. Talk about riding someone else’s coattails.

Trump’s team isn’t exactly thrilled about Harris’s policy plagiarism. Rumor has it, the former president is considering backing Vance’s proposal himself. A Trump campaign insider told Semafor, “President Trump will consider a significant expansion of the child tax credit that applies to American families. President Trump respects and listens to his running mate Senator Vance.” Translation: Trump’s got the original ideas, and Harris is just trying to catch up.

But this isn’t Harris’s first rodeo when it comes to policy theft. She raised a few Democratic eyebrows when she suddenly decided to back the idea of eliminating taxes on service workers’ tips—right after Trump had rolled out the same policy. Her announcement in Las Vegas about supporting the elimination of taxes on tips was about as original as a cover band at a county fair.

The Trump team didn’t waste any time calling her out on it. Trump supporters have been promoting the “no tax on tips” policy for weeks, even scribbling it on receipts to rally service workers. Trump himself jumped on the trend, tipping $500 at a Philadelphia cheesesteak joint and making sure everyone knew who thought of it first.

And, of course, Trump took to Truth Social to roast Harris for her lack of originality. “Kamala Harris, whose ‘Honeymoon’ period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy,” Trump posted. “The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes! This was a TRUMP idea – She has no ideas, she can only steal from me.”

So, while Harris continues to play copycat, Trump’s making it clear who the real innovator is in this race. Maybe next time, Harris can come up with something on her own—if she can manage it.
